M & D Cycles' Scott Davies won the Tom Hawkins Road Race at Uffculme, Devon, beating Exeter Wheelers' Steven Birch in the sprint.

A full field of 80 started the challenging new course running outside of Culmstock, with six laps totalling 53 miles. Even with little wind three riders were shelled within the first mile with a fierce start aiming for the prime at the end of lap one, eventially taken by Jake Durant (Mid-Devon Cycling Club).

With a strong field, attacks were shortlived until lap three, with seven riders going up the road for two laps. Coming back together it was clear it was going to stay together, despite attacks from favourites Mark Perry (Willier/live2rider) and Andrew Hitchens (Mid-Devon Cycling Club).

George Pym (Exeter Wheelers) was looking to continue his recent success, covering threatening moves throughout. Coming into the finish, two riders (Scott Davies, M & D Kinetica Racing Team and Steven Birch, Exeter Wheelers) slipped off the front with no-one taking up the chase. The two stayed away with Davies bagging the win ahead of Birch.

Third place was anyone's guess with a bunch sprint on the uphill finish. Third looked to be going to George Pym ahead of Andrew Hitchens (Mid-Devon Cycling Club) after a well timed move, but Mid-Devon's Jake Durant came around them both to take the sprint.
