Go-Ride Conferences - Creating an Olympic Legacy

World Class Coaches and Olympic and World Championship medallist guest speakers are just some of the attractions for the 2010 Go-Ride Conference season.

Taking place throughout March the conferences are aimed at Club Officials, Volunteers and Coaches. The theme this year is ‘Creating an Olympic Legacy' in the context of developing our current and next generation Go-Ride clubs, skilled and qualified volunteers and by creating thousands of opportunities for entry level racing for young riders. Every year the conferences provide a chance to learn more about, and contribute to, the development of the Go-Ride programme as well as a chance to share best practice with volunteers from other clubs.

The interactive workshop sessions are always a popular feature and this year will include:-

Competition - Following huge interest from clubs to get involved in entry level competition during the 2009 Go-Ride conferences, we will be launching Go-Ride Racing for club delivery in this workshop. Clubs wanting to sign up to deliver events will have the opportunity to receive organiser training and a free Go-Ride Racing bag full of competition equipment.

Coaching - (for British Cycling trainee and qualified club coaches).
With its practical on bike and classroom based elements, the coaching workshop has become a firm favourite with Go-Ride community coaches. Tim Buckle and Simon Watts from British Cycling's World Class Coaching Team will provide coaches with the opportunity to further develop their knowledge and understanding of the latest coaching techniques. Further information on Talent programmes and coach training opportunities will also be available.

Club Development - To build on last year's Clubmark workshop we will be giving club volunteers the opportunity to shape the future for the next level of Go-Ride accreditation. This is your chance to shape the future for our Go-Ride clubs. We will explore the variety of volunteer roles and show you how your club volunteers can access free training. With information on the new Cycling Award for Young Volunteers and the incentives available for clubs to develop beyond Clubmark accreditation this promises to be a popular session.

In addition, ‘The Hub' will be open all day to provide interactive information and networking opportunities. All the latest details on membership benefits, funding opportunities, Cycle Training and Recreational Cycling to name just a few, along with the opportunity for you to suggest improvements to the Go-Ride programme, plus the latest Go-Ride and Skyride films will also be on show.

The workshops will take place in four locations on the following dates:

Exeter - Saturday 6th March 2010
Watford - Sunday 7th March 2010 CONFERENCE FULL!!
Leeds - Saturday 20th March 2010
Leicester - Sunday 21st March 2010
