After the recent wet spell, 12 young riders enjoyed fine weather for the fourth of five races in the Hinckley Flyers ‘5’ Go-Ride Race Series on 9th June.

The first race was an individual time-trial on a twisting and turning course laid out in the car park of Triumph Motorcycles factory. The winner in the U8s was Adam Lea, the U10s Jakob Warren, the U14s was Isaac Gandy and Peter Musgrave won in the U16s. Times for the one lap circuit ranged from 1 minute16 seconds to three minutes 50 seconds with a range of around two minutes and 44 seconds.

Next was the Scratch Race where the riders raced within their age categories over multiple laps of the same course. Everyone coped with the technical circuit well, showing they had learned from the coaching sessions leading up to the event.

Winners were again Adam Lea in the U8s, Jakob Warren in the U10s, Isaac Gandy in the U14s and in the U16s Peter Musgrave.

The last race of the afternoon was a Team Relay with teams made up from a variety of ages. The older riders rode two laps with the younger ones one lap. ‘Team Jack’ was the winner over ‘Team Damien’ and ‘Man United’.

Whilst the winners received medals all the competitors were given a water bottle and a bag of sweets for their efforts. Thanks go to everyone who helped with either setting up, time-keeping, lap-counting or tidying up at the end.

The next race in the Hinckley Flyers ‘5” Go-Ride Race Series is on Saturday 1st September 2012 – see you there!
