Lee Valley Velodrome, London hosted this year’s Youth National Omnium Final with a strong turn out from across the country.
The London weather did not disappoint but made indoor riding a little tricky, with the heat ramping up as the day went on.
Aelwen Davies stormed to victory in the Youth B Girls Omnium, winning three out of four races and giving her a comfortable points advantage going into the final Points Race - 29 points ahead of Carys Blowers (Second) and Erin Boothman (Third).
The paramedics may have thought they were having an easy day, however, a nasty four rider pile up in the Girls B Points Race got them into action. Thankfully all riders were able to walk away – just goes to show that track cycling is not for the faint hearted!
Despite a consistent ranking across all races, Rory Gravelle narrowly missed out on first place by two points to Henry Hobbs in the Youth B Boys.
In the Youth A Girls, Isabel Sharp took home gold winning two of her races by giving it her all in the Velodrome heat.
Holly Ramsey did not give up without a fight though, winning the Sprint Finals to put herself in second place, closely followed by Awen Roberts in third.
Calum Moir took first place in the Youth A Boys Final followed by Sam Fisher in Second and Peter Drabble in Third.
Despite a late finish, and shortened Points Finals, the day went smoothly, riders coped with the heat well and put on some tremendous performances.
Many thanks to the Commissaires and LYTL Team for all their hard work today.
