A celebration of cycling in Wales will take place on October 12th at the Sophia Garden Cricket Stadium. A combination of both our elite athletes and our volunteers – and everyone in between – will come together to commemorate the sport in Wales, and each other, on what promises to be a fantastic evening.

Anne Adams-King, CEO of Welsh Cycling, said: “On what is set to be an exciting evening of celebrating cycling in Wales, we’re looking forward to seeing many of our clubs and sponsors, who continue to share our journey, enjoy the evening of celebrations”.

“Our elite, development and para athletes have amassed much success across the year. However, away from the medal-count we have also witnessed many accomplishments in terms of membership, facilities and creating further opportunities to get the nation cycling – all of which is a cause for celebration,” Welsh Cycling’s CEO continued.

Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism, Lord Elis-Thomas will also be attending the evening.  He said: “This is an excellent opportunity for us to celebrate the fantastic achievements in Welsh Cycling but to also thank the coaches and volunteers for their hard work and the opportunities provided for cycling at every level.”

Not only will be the evening be an opportunity to reflect on the journey that the sport and Welsh Cycling has undertaken throughout 2019 and to celebrate all the achievements and success that has been obtained, but it is also an opportunity to give back to all the of the individuals and the clubs that allow Welsh Cycling to be such a success.

Nominations for various awards were sent to Welsh Cycling, and were then put forward to our external judging panel. Those individuals that were shortlisted were then announced on our social media and then on the night winners will be announced.

Whilst a great focus of the night will be dedicated to presenting the winners with their awards, another element of the night that continues with the theme of celebrating cycling in Wales will be a Question & Answer session with a selection of our Welsh cyclists.

Commonwealth Silver Medallist and multiple World Cup medallist Jon Mould, will be joined by former Junior and under-23 Champion Manon Lloyd. Stevie Williams from World Tour Bahrain Merida will also be present alongside junior track rider Emma Finucane who is nine-time British track Champion and recently became a World and European medallist this year at the European and World Junior Track Championships.

The Q&A session is not only an opportunity for those who will be attending the Awards Dinner to ask this talented panel questions, but we have also opened it up to the general public through our social media platforms. Using the hashtag #AskThePros, members of the public have the chance to get their questions answered by these professional cyclists.

From all of us at Welsh Cycling, we would like to give thanks to all of our sponsors for their continual support throughout the year. Without this support, we would not be able to achieve such success and continue to enhance the participation of cycling in Wales. An extra thanks must be given to the headline sponsors for this Awards Dinner, Litelok, who have recently been named as the official security partners of Welsh Cycling.
