The 2018 HSBC UK | BMX National Series continues this weekend with rounds seven and eight taking place north of the border.
Knightswood Park in Glasgow is the venue with several riders making their first racing appearances back in the UK following the UCI BMX World Championships in Baku.
How the series works
Riders are awarded points based on their results in each round (up to a maximum of 100 points per round). A rider’s best seven result from the 12 rounds in the series makes up their total. The rider with the highest total in their respective category is crowned HSBC UK | BMX National Series champion.
Championship women
Bethany Shriever (T.N.T.) will be in action in Scotland this weekend, fresh from her first-ever appearance in elite competition at the UCI BMX World Championships.
The former junior world champion reached the quarter-finals in Azerbaijan and will start as the red-hot favourite in Glasgow.
Lauren Anyon (Blackpool BMX Club) claimed the under-16 world title in Baku and will look to transfer that form to the domestic series.
Series leader Charlotte Green is absent, meaning Lauren Stack (Burnham BMX Club) has the chance to take top spot this weekend.
Superclass
Series leader Kye Whyte will not take to the startline in Glasgow, one week on from his elite debut at the UCI BMX World Championships.
Whyte (Peckham Challengers BMX Club) reached the quarter-finals in Baku, but does not race this weekend.
Current second ranked rider Eddie Moore (Burnham BMX Club) will race and could overhaul Whyte this weekend, while Ashley Binner (Gosport BMX Club) and Curtis Manaton (Burnham BMX Club) will also look to improve their standings.
Great Britain Cycling Team’s Paddy Sharrock will also be in action at Knightswood Park.
