An inspiring story: "I had my lower leg amputated - and it changed my life for the better"

Phil was born with a club foot causing him crippling pain went from crying himself to sleep to inspirational action man after choosing to have the lower leg amputated.

After numerous unsuccessful operations, Phil was told me could carry on living in pain - or have his right leg amputated below the knee.

"On March 2, 2013, i had my amputation and it changed my life for the better. It was the hardest, but best decision i ever made".

Within six months, Phil had joined a wheelchair rugby club, played for North Wales Crusaders within eight months and represented the Welsh national side in a year.

He has also made his mark in cycling, and recently set out on a 70 mile ride between Chester and Llandudno to riase money for the Limbless association, which local club Marsh Tracks in Rhyl supported him on.

He said "Never give up, get out there and prove to people you can do it.

"All of us only get one life, which is why I'm passionate about showing people that having a disability doesn't stop you from achieving anything you want".
