British Cycling is pleased to announce that it has linked up with new partner organisations to ensure that its aspiring mountain bike leaders have access to courses based in two of the country’s most iconic national parks.

The Peak District and the North York Moors – both of which share geological and environmental conditions hugely conducive to mountain biking – are home to the organisation’s newest mountain bike leadership courses.

The new venues are Thornbridge Outdoors and Pure Outdoor (both Peak District) and Velo Coaching and North Yorkshire Outdoor Learning Service (both North York Moors).

British Cycling’s Dan Cook said:

“It is fantastic to have these new venues on board. As an experienced rider myself, these truly stunning locations are among my favourite places in the country to ride, and it’s great that these venues will now enable more mountain bikers to access the British Cycling MTB Leadership Awards. We continue to work hard to provide accessible courses for the leaders of the future, and sustainable opportunities for quality outdoor learning providers across the UK.”

The Peak District attracts 10 million visitors a year, and both Thornbridge Outdoors and Pure Outdoor are on the doorstep of some of the national park’s most popular and renowned attractions, such as the Monsal Trail, Cave Dale and Mam Tor.

In the North York Moors, Velo Coaching operate courses based from the recently-opened Yorkshire Cycle Hub in Fryup Dale, whilst later in 2018, North Yorkshire Outdoor Learning Service will be offering courses based at East Barnby Centre, taking in the best of the Moors and the coast.

The dates of the new courses will be shared on our dates and venues page, along with the contact details for each provider.
