Scottish Cycling is saddened by the death of Isobel Smith, a wonderful member of the cycling community in the North East.

On 29th December 2017, the cycling community in Scotland lost one of its’ most loved personalities. Isobel Smith passed away after suffering heart failure. She had been dealing with secondary lung cancer for over 2 years, as well suffering the after effects of treatment for oral cancer in 2012.

Isobel had a huge influence on cycling in Scotland, having raced and volunteered at events across the North East. She went on to recieve the Scottish Cycling Gold Badge of Honour in 2008, awarded to those who have shown outstanding commitment to the sport. Her attendance at races where she continued to be an ever present will greatly be missed.

Our thoughts are with Isobels’ family at this time.

The funeral will be held on 15th January at 11:00 in the West Chapel at Haxelhead Crematorium followed by a burial at 11:45 at Hazlehead then a reception at the Hazlehead Park café.
