The 2017 Welsh Road Race Championship event will take riders from the starting line at Ysgol Cerrig-Y-Drdudion into the heart of North Wales, where the Senior Men and Juniors will complete 63 miles over 3 laps, with spectacular views of Snowdonia National Park.

Promoted by VC Melyd, the Welsh Cycling Road Race Championship will also decide the women’s title, in the 42 mile Women’s/Veterans/Cat 4 race over 2 laps of the scenic circuit at Llyn Brenig.

Simon Parkinson, event organiser for VC Melyd said: “Myself and the club are really excited to host the event and look forward to see Wales’s best riders race on a fantastic course.”

In addition to the 2017 event, the Welsh Cycling Time Trial Championships will take place ahead of the road championships on Saturday 19 August. The 20 mile course will also begin at Ysgol Cerrig-Y-Drudion and will climb towards Llyn Brenig, offering championship titles to senior men, senior and junior women and veteran men and women.

Welsh Cycling Chief Executive Officer Anne Adams-King said: “Welsh Cycling is looking forward to the Welsh Cycling Road Race Championships in August.

“The return of the time trial championships will once again extend the event to make it a thrilling weekend of cycling. I look forward to being at the event and seeing many of our members in Wales competing for the 2017 titles that are on offer.”
