Great Britain Cycling Team’s Blaine Ridge-Davis was crowned European junior women’s BMX champion in Bordeaux, France on Saturday.
The 18-year-old led from the start and held off a late surge from Latvia's Vineta Petersone to become the first Briton to win the junior women’s title at the European championships since Shanaze Reade in 2006.
Bethany Shriever was also in the final but saw herself squeezed out on the opening straight, going on to finish sixth.
In the junior men’s final, Kye Whyte was in the medal hunt before being caught behind a crash that forced him out of contention as he crossed the line fifth.
In the elite men’s event, a slow start out of the gate saw Kyle Evans exit at the 1/8 final stage before Tre Whyte was narrowly squeezed out on the final straight to go out at the quarter-final stage.
Euan Hunt’s junior men’s competition ended at the 1/8 finals stage.
