Frazer Clacherty was the British representative in the under-23 men’s race at the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup in Nove Mesto this weekend.

The young rider started in gate 43 of 156 riders and made a strong start to the race but found he had over exerted himself too early and suffered in the latter stages of the race.

Clacherty came home in 40th place, a career-best result; his best result previously was a 56th place finish last year in Lenzerheide.

Tomorrow will see the turn of the under-23 women, when Ella Conolly and Evie Richards will line up for the Great Britain Cycling Team.

In the elite women's race British rider Annie Last, racing for her trade team OMX Pro Team, finished 10th, her best result since 2015.
