Welsh Cycling presented club coaches of The Bulls Cycling Club with British Cycling’s Go-Ride Clubmark accreditation at their recent kids coaching session at the Royal Welsh Showground, Llanelwedd.

Clubmark is cross-sport quality accreditation for clubs with junior sections which proves they are observing best practice in child protection, coaching and competition, equity and club management.

Club Chairman, Ryan Bevis, was pleased with the club's achievements: “It’s fantastic to see our club continue to develop in such a short space of time and we’re so grateful for our hosts at the RWAS and Fforest Fields for their continued support and of our volunteers. Achieving Go-Ride Clubmark accreditation is part of our overall club development programme and we’re looking forward to another successful year at the races!"

The Bulls Cycling Club provide inclusive cycling opportunities across all of their coaching sessions for both youth & adult members and provide a supportive environment for any person taking part. Sessions run regularly at the Royal Welsh Show Ground, and Fforest Fields campsite near Builth Wells. The presentation by Welsh Cycling was a double celebration as The Bulls recently supported local Cubs group, 1st Llandrindod, with their members achieving their Cycling badge.

Dan Coast of Welsh Cycling said: “The Bulls Cycling Club has worked hard to gain the Go-Ride Clubmark accreditation, and we are pleased to welcome The Bulls to our network of Go-Ride Clubs across Wales.

The club has established itself as a core part of the community in Builth Wells and surrounding areas, supporting both the British and Welsh Mountain Bike Cross-Country series and the upcoming Tour of Britain in September. Welsh Cycling is looking forward to seeing the club grow and inspire more young people in Powys to take up cycling.”

The Go-Ride programme provides a fun and safe way to introduce young riders to the world of cycle sport and provides a platform to improve bike handling skills. Over 60% of the Great Britain Cycling Team started at a Go-Ride club, and provides a first step on to the Performance Pathway.

The Bulls Cycling Club currently has almost 100 members, half of which are under 18 years old, with sessions delivered throughout the year at traffic free facilities thereby offering a safe environment for people to try cycling.

Getting involved is easy with a local Go-Ride Club, you can find your nearest club using the British Cycling Club Finder or find out more about The Bulls Cycling Club here.
