Sir Bradley Wiggins is confirmed to compete at Six Day London this October. His appearance would mark a first return to the velodrome at Lee Valley VeloPark since his spectacular World Championship Madison victory in March.

Wiggins is currently training to earn selection to what would be his fifth Olympic Games, bidding for a place in the team pursuit squad. An appearance at Six Day London would be his debut Six Day event on home soil, as well as being the first opportunity to see him race back at the velodrome after Rio.

Wiggins said; "I grew up with the Six Day. I know it’s full on, brilliant for spectators, as well as tough to ride. It’s always been a big deal in Europe so it’s only right that they’ve finally brought it back to London.

"I was gutted not to be able to ride it last year, but this year the timing just fits so I’m hoping it will be a great way to celebrate a successful fifth Olympic Games, back in London."

Wiggins will link up with Mark Cavendish to form the first team confirmed for this year’s Six Day London, which returned to the capital for the first time in 35 years in October 2015. Wiggins is thrilled to team up once again with the Manx Missile in London.

"It’s going to be great. This has got to be the double act everyone wants to see isn’t it? Winning the Madison at the Worlds was incredible and this might well be the last chance that people get to see us together."

Mark Cavendish has welcomed his fellow world champion to the Six Day fold.

"One of the first things I said to Brad after we won the Madison on the track in London was, "We have to do London Six Days together". The Six Day experience is something else - the atmosphere will be right up there with the World Championships, the music's loud and the racing is brutal. It’ll be great to team up with Brad again and we’ll be going for the win."

Wiggins and Cavendish will join a world class field of Six Day riders as they compete in a range of disciplines from time trials to the Six Day-invented Madison. The event will also feature a women’s omnium across the final three nights, as well as sprints and junior races. With a track centre DJ, the lights are turned down and the music turned up as the world class racing meets a world class party atmosphere.
