Atherton and Hart triumph at Fort William in British Cycling MTB Downhill Series

World champion Rachel Atherton and Danny Hart took the elite women’s and men’s wins respectively at round two of the British Cycling MTB Downhill Series at Fort William.

Coming just three weeks before the venue hosts round three of the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup, 2011 world champion Hart stopped the clock in 4:36.826 for the win.

Gee Atherton was nearly two seconds back in second as France’s Loic Bruni completed the podium.

Rachel Atherton, who has won both of this year’s world cup races, continued her relentless run of form by completing the course in 5:12.728.

Manon Carpenter was second with Tahnee Seagrave third.

Round three takes place in Rhyd-Y-Felin, Wales on the 28-29 May.
