Ben has been commuting for three years in London taking in some of the city’s most iconic buildings and utilising the capital’s cycle superhighways.

Name:

Ben Boothroyd.

How long have you been commuting?

Three years.

How long is your commute (one-way)?

Between 6 and 10 miles.

How many days a week do you commute?

5.

What is your favourite part of your commute?

I vary my route depending on the weather. I still enjoy coming past Big Ben and Westminster Abbey – especially when the sun is shining. Other than that, it’s been great to see the new cycle superhighways grow and to be able to use them a little more each day.

Tell us about the bike you use to commute on?

Cannondale Synapse, which is also my winter training bike.

Do you have any funny or interesting bike commuting stories?

You see a lot when you ride through London. When the new cycle highways recently opened between St. George's and Blackfriars I'd regularly find very confused Uber drivers in the segregated cycle lanes. I think they've figured it out now though!

What’s your best commuting tip?

Don’t be afraid to use the road, stop at red lights, carry a spare inner tube or know the bike shops on your route.
