Welsh Cycling Junior Programme will compete in the Junior Energiewacht Tour 6-9 April 2016 in The Netherlands.

Four Junior Women will compete in the early-season stage race. Four days of racing begins with a Team Time Trial on Wednesday in Groningen followed by three days of road racing finishing on Saturday in Zuidhorn.

Gwenno Hughes, Emily Tillett, Sophie Williams and Elizabeth Bennett make up the Welsh Cycling Junior Programme team, with Jess Roberts join the Great Britain Junior Academy team for the event. Riders will benefit from competing in an international field, experiencing racing in The Netherlands.

The international field includes teams from USA, Belgium and The Netherlands providing exposure to high level competition. The event will test the riders in many aspects of racing, bike handling, team tactics and all round fitness. Experiencing continental racing early in the season gives riders the opportunity to learn and develop as junior bike riders.

The Junior Energiewacht Tour echoes the senior Tour, now in its sixth edition. Great Britain Senior Academy will compete in the UCI 2.2 event, with Manon Lloyd, Emily Nelson and Megan Barker part of the squad.
