Are you looking for a way to get fit, feel healthier, have more energy, live longer and feel happier? Welsh Cycling is looking for female participants aged 16 and over to take part in a cycling study.

Working in partnership with Cardiff-based company Nudjed, Welsh Cycling are looking for participants to discover how cycling can improve your life. The project is suitable to any female new or relatively new to cycling who would like to work towards a cycling challenge with the support of Breeze and Nudjed to succeed.

Cat Crimmins, Women and Girls Officer, Welsh Cycling is pleased to be partnering with Nudjed for this project: “We are hoping that this project with Nudjed will encourage more women and girls to take part in cycling and demonstrate the benefits cycling can have on your lifestyle in a short period of time.

It will be great to see the participants progress over the 12-week period and hopefully continue to cycle as part of Breeze or with our cycling clubs in Wales.”

Participants will follow a 12 week training plan that will allow you to successfully complete a 64km cycle event at the end of it.

To help you achieve this there will be the following support from Welsh Cycling and Nudjed:

  • Closed Facebook group for participants to share ideas or to arrange meet ups for rides. This Facebook group will also have daily health and cycling tips
  • Fortnightly healthy newsletters
  • Subscription to the Nudjed Healthy Week (Nudje yourself to a better lifestyle, with health advice tailored to you! Nudjed uses intelligent technology and Behavioural Science to deliver personalised advice and guidance that helps you achieve your health and fitness goals)
  • An easy to follow weekly training plan
  • Email support from the Breeze team in Wales
  • Information on all Breeze rides in your area and the opportunity to meet like-minded women
  • On the day support at a nominated event from the Breeze team in Wales, the event is: Daisy Chain Sportive at Llandrindod Wells taking place on Sunday 10 July 2016

At the start, middle and end of the project you will be asked to complete a simple questionnaire.  These results will hopefully demonstrate to yourself how cycling has improved your life plus we can share the good news to other women too.

Breeze is an award winning programme designed by British Cycling to get more women cycling.  It is essentially led bike rides for women led by women volunteers called Breeze Champions.  In the past year there has been over 400 led rides in Wales.

Nudjed uses innovative technology to make health and wellbeing programmes more effective and to help organisations to understand the health of their teams. Nudjed makes it easier for people to learn about the next steps to reaching a healthier lifestyle.

If you want to be part of the project, please contact Cat Crimmins, Women and Girls Officer at breeze@welshcycling.co.uk to register your interest by Monday 29 February 2016.
