Go-Ride Conference Wales has been postponed for 2016. Our Cycling Development Officers will contact clubs to arrange regional workshops during Spring/Summer 2016.

The Go-Ride Conference Wales returns in April for clubs, volunteers and coaches from the cycling community in Wales. You can book your place online, and select workshops to attend during the day. 

This years' conference will take place at Caerleon Campus, University of South Wales on Saturday 9 April. As well as providing networking opportunties for clubs to share ideas, workshops will be delivered with our partners for club officials to build and sustain a healthy club environment for young people to access cycling.

Time to Listen Training

NSPCC Time to Listen (TTL) training will be delivered by British Cycling tutors. The workshop provides cycling specific guidance and aims to ensure the Club Welfare Officer has the best training possible to implement child protection practices within Go-Ride Clubs. In order to attend, CWOs must have already attended the three-hour Safeguarding and Protecting Children course or equivalent as TTL builds on this.

New Young Volunteers (CAYV) (AM and PM)

For young people aged 14 to 18 wishing to join the Cycling Award for Young Volunteers (CAYV) programme, this three hour workshop will cover the basic CAYV modules to broaden knowledge of volunteering roles in cycle sport and enthuse them to get involved. New young volunteers will then get the opportunity to network with current young volunteers during the afternoon and learn more about the young volunteer pathway.

Go Ride Volunteers (AM and PM)

For Contacts, Secretaries, Club Volunteers and Helpers

The morning session will concentrate on putting your members first and provide takeaway tips on how to successfully market your club, with a focus on social media. The afternoon will see the Regional Development Managers deliver updates specific to your area to help support whole club development.

Coaches Workshop (AM)

This bespoke workshop will focus on developing coaches understanding around the key coaching skills of “observing” and “analysing” technique. The workshop will support the roll out of our Skills Award which will focus on developing are young riders.

Afternoon Workshops

Social Media (PM)

This workshop delivered by Welsh Cycling's Marketing and Communications Officer, and will focus on developing ideas of how social media can support and enhance your club. Ranging from volunteer recruitment to event promotion, this workshop will give you the tools you need to get started.

Coaches Workshop (PM)

The afternoon workshop for coaches will look at completing the learning process by reflecting on their coaching practices.

Funding (PM)

Our final workshop will be focused on updating clubs around the changes to the Sport Wales Community Chest Application process since it has moved online.
