Welsh Cycling wants more young people to become track cycling sprinters, with potential to become world class athletes.

From September to December, Welsh Cycling visited more than 20 schools, testing over 2000 pupils in a bid to find young people with power to become a track cycling sprinter. During the Christmas holidays, we are inviting more young people to Wales National Velodrome, Newport to take part in Stage 1 of Power2Pedal.

Wales has an enviable reputation in the discipline, most recently with the success of double World Champion and Commonwealth medallist Becky James and World Cup medallist Lewis Oliva. We want to continue this success, and are searching for the next generation of world class athletes from Wales.

If you are aged 13 – 15, join us at Wales National Velodrome, Newport between 11.00am – 1.00pm on Wednesday 30 December 2015. We’re looking for young people who enjoy sport, you don’t need to be a cyclist!

Stage 1 of Power2Pedal includes Wattbike testing, vertical jump test, body measurements and a lifestyle survey. If you are successful, you will be invited to return to Wales National Velodrome in February 2016 for Stage 2 of Power2Pedal.

Register for Stage 1 by 9.00am on Tuesday 29 December 2015.
