Due to the dramatic increase in people visiting the website on tablets and mobile devices, the site was updated to a responsive design to enable visitors on all screen sizes enjoy the same levels of usability.

In addition, the redesign improved the visual appeal of the website as well as the site navigation, while the new platform enhanced the functionality of content across the site including reports, videos, imagery, live blogs and audio.

The changes prompted a 10% increase in year-on-year website traffic for the period between March and September.

British Cycling’s head of communications, Scott Dougal, said: “The award nomination is a great recognition for the work that went into making our website as appealing and as easy to navigate as possible for our members and other users of the site.

“We took into account the amount of people now accessing the website from mobiles and tablets, and also gathered plenty of feedback from those who use the site regularly.

"We aimed to produce a site that gave users a simpler, clearer and faster experience, and we are delighted that the finished product has been so well-received.”
