Great Britain's Last 21st in elite women's UCI Mountain Bike World Championships race

Annie Last was 21st for the Great Britain Cycling Team in the elite women’s cross-country race at the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships in Andorra.

Last completed the six laps totalling 25.2-kilometre in a time of 2:03:20 in warm and clear conditions in Vallnord on Saturday.

The 24-year-old crossed the line 10 minutes and 36 seconds behind France’s Pauline Ferrand Prevot, who made history by adding the title to her road and cyclo-cross world championship wins.

Starting in 26th, London Olympian Last moved into the top-20 at the halfway point, occupying 19th position before dropping down to 20th on lap four and into her final position on the penultimate lap.

Great Britain Cycling Team have won two medals at the championships so far.

Evie Richards took junior women’s silver on Thursday before Grant Ferguson won bronze in the under-23 men’s race on Friday.

The championships conclude on Sunday with the downhill races as Britain’s Gee Atherton and Manon Carpenter aim to defend their men’s and women’s world crowns respectively.
