Grant Ferguson got his world cup season back on track as he finished fourth at round five of the 2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup cross-country in the under-23 event.
At the last two races Ferguson’s finishes were disrupted by punctures and mechanical issues, with his last world cup placing back in May, when he finished fourth in Albstadt.
Two months and three rounds later, Ferguson was able to ride in the top five again without interruption.
Quickly establishing himself in fourth place, Ferguson chased for third on the final lap but was denied by three seconds.

In the elite women’s race luck was again not on Annie Last’s side. A puncture on the penultimate lap cost her over one minute and relegated her from the top ten, to a 13th place finish.
Last had started with intent, riding in the top five on the opening lap and looked to have a season-best finish within sight before the flat tyre.

After scoring her first podium position in the under-23 category one week ago in Mont Sainte Anne, Alice Barnes backed up her ride with a sixth place finish in Windham.
The result comes as Barnes recorded tenth, fourth and third already in the series, putting her sixth in the overall standings with one round remaining.
The final round of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup cross-county takes place on 23 August in Val di Sole, Italy.
