Joining a new club can be intimidating, especially for women. The fear of 'not being fast enough' or 'getting left behind' puts many women off joining a club but with the introduction of the Breeze programme, making that first step has become less intimidating; Breeze has made it easier for women to go out on their bikes with other like minded women.

A new cycling club in mid Wales has gone one step further with a women only cycling club being set up.  Welshpool Biking Belles aims to offer varied group rides for all abilities and is open to women and girls over the age of 14 years old who want to cycle for fun, fitness and to challenge themselves.

The friendly bunch of women had been cycling together for a year before deciding to take the next step and become affiliated to British Cycling. As an affiliated club, their club rides are now covered by 3rd party insurance with their members also able to take advantage of the half price British Cycling membership for new members package.

The club rides are advertised on the club's Facebook page and take place from April to September as following:

Monday evening: 6:30pm from various locations in Welshpool. Short and flat route (please take a look on their Facebook page for more info).

Thursday evening: Beginners ride

Friday morning: 9:00am, intermediate ride.
