The 2015 Go-Ride Conferences have now kicked off with the first of six events held at Taunton Racecourse on Saturday, with volunteers from across the South and South West coming to attend workshops for a range of volunteer roles.

Coaches attending the conference had the opportunity to compare coaching practices and the habits of their riders with the latest principles of coaching cycle sport in Go-Ride clubs and were provided with activities designed to focus on replicating elite performance in a club environment.

Volunteers had the opportunity to explore ways in which young people can be involved in the decision-making process of clubs and how to recruit additional volunteers to ensure club sustainability.

There was also the opportunity to reflect on the successes of the past 12 months and say thank you to all the volunteers for helping to cement the legacy of the Tour de France 'Grand Depart' coming to Britain.

The Go-Ride conferences head to Durham and Manchester this weekend. Although Manchester is fully booked, there are still places available at a number of the remaining conferences.

Steph Allmark, British Cycling's national development manager for clubs and volunteers said:

“We are delighted to have received such a positive response from the delegates on the opening weekend.

“We really value this opportunity to thank our club volunteers for all their efforts and welcome the opportunity to pass on important information, and the whole team is looking forward to the remaining conferences.”
