Welsh Cycling will host the first Go-Ride Conference in Wales this spring, providing an opportunity for volunteers in Welsh Cycling clubs to meet up, share ideas and develop new skills.

The Go-Ride Conference will be held at Swansea University on Saturday 28 March 2015.  We have development opportunities for Welfare Officers, Coaches and the launch of the Young Volunteers Programme in Wales. Volunteers will have the opportunity to attend workshops and network with fellow Welsh Cycling clubs.

Go-Ride Conferences aim to support the growing network of Go-Ride clubs and volunteers, as well as a thank you to everyone for their incredible efforts in providing opportunities for young people to get on their bikes.

If you are a British Cycling member, it’s free to attend the conference and workshops with priority given to Go-Ride club members.  If you are an aspiring Go Ride club or establishing a junior section please get in touch and come along as well.

Workshop 1: Coaches

This workshop will challenge all coaches to think about what is ‘good’ coaching and how it manifests itself in practice. The workshop will focus on analysing coaching practices and exploring ways that coaches can challenge and improve rider performance.

Workshop 3: Young Volunteers

For young people aged 14 to 18 wishing to join the Cycling Award for Young Volunteers (CAYV) programme, this workshop will cover the basic CAYV and Racemakers modules to broaden knowledge of volunteering roles in cycle sport and enthuse them to get involved.

Workshop 5: Club Welfare Officers

Club Welfare Officers are invited to attend this workshop, which will give Officers the formal training they need to fulfil their role.  The aim of the workshop will be to update knowledge, develop skills, and share good practice to help Welfare Officers to develop a safeguarding and child-focussed culture in the club.

Sport Wales Funding Workshop

Welsh Cycling club members are welcome to attend this funding workshop delivered by Sport Wales. The workshop aims to raise awareness of what financial support is available to sports clubs in Wales and give you some top tips on submitting applications.

Disability Sport Wales

Disability Sport Wales will deliver this workshop to help clubs consider how they can adapt sessions and activities for disabled riders. There will be lots of ideas on how you can look to make your club more inclusive with some real live case studies as well as guidance on where to get more support if needed.
