The first women-only Breeze bike rides are taking place across Wales this weekend, and you’re invited to get on your bike and enjoy the ride!

Between 13 and 16 November 2014, there are Breeze rides taking place in Swansea, Cardiff, Newport and Monmouthshire with additional rides in Rhondda Cynon Taff and Gwynedd. All rides are led by fully trained Breeze Champions who are on hand to offer tips and advice on cycling, whilst taking you on a fun, short social bike ride in your local area.

Breeze Network is being piloted in Wales over the next twelve months, supported by Welsh Cycling and Sport Wales. There are already 20 Breeze Champions in place, with rides in the calendar through to January 2015. There are now more opportunities than ever before for women to participate in cycling.

Cat Crimmins, Breeze Wales Co-ordinator said: “We have seen the success of Breeze in England, and we want to replicate that in Wales and give more women the opportunity to get out on their bikes and socialise with other women.

“Breeze gives them the chance to do just that on their doorstep! If you would like to get out on your bike, whether it’s for the first time or after a long break, Breeze is for you.”

Jennifer Walker from Swansea trained as a Breeze Champion with Welsh Cycling in October, and is looking forward to encouraging more women to get on their bikes through the winter. “I used to find excuses for not getting out on my bike. But now with Breeze Network ready and waiting for you to join a free ride locally here in Wales, there’s no reason not to get out on two wheels! Just get in touch with us; we’d love to see you out there!”
