ScottishPower Youth Mini Downhill Race Report Perth 2nd June

The sun was out on Sunday for the final regional qualifier of the ScottishPower Youth Mini Downhill Series at kinnoul hill near Perth. Conditions were perfect a nice dry trail which was dusty a rarity for Scottish trails and a very different experience from the muddy condition at Stirling.

With 71 riders on the sign on sheet it was going to be a busy day. First up was the course walk, with the race using the Freeride park at kinnoul hill there were a couple of bigger jumps and drops offs to negotiate. Although there was an easier line round each of the bigger features you definatley had to have a look at what you where riding. Morning practice was hten swiftly underway with warm dry conditions and jumps to ride the young riders were all keen to make the most of practice and get as many runs in as they could.

On to the race runs with such a big field it was going to be a tough competition and the results showed it with barely a few second sepearting out the top steps on the podium! Local rider Myles Ried took the fastest time of the day being the only rider to break the 1minute barrier with a time of 59.77seconds.
