Rider Profile

Name: Sean Noon

Primary Club: ASL 360 RT

I started to race when I was 13, racing mountain bikes then moving on to road and track when I realised I spent more time on the ground than racing! I began to race at Scottish level and British level when I became a youth A and have had fantastic opportunities to race abroad in Basque Country, Belgium and France! I have also had the great experience of representing Scotland in many events like the UK School Games and abroad in the Haspengouw tour in Belgium.

Fast forward to 2013 and I am a first year junior racing in the UK scene and hopefully Belgium / Holland. With the opening of the new velodrome there are so many opportunities to extend my racing career and hopefully make a living out of it one day.

Career Highlights to date:

I’ve had some ok results in my 3-year long racing escapade, my best result is probably coming 4th in a Kermis (Kermesse) near Wevelgem (finish of Gent-Wevelgem surprisingly enough!) in Belgium last year, with 13th the day before in another Kermis.

I won a couple of Scottish Champs (Pursuit and Scratch) and the Youth B road champs in 2010, and have been top 10 at National Youth level about 10 times in 2011/2012 and top 15 too many frustrating times (12th x4 road places last year!)

Most of the races like Ingilston crits etc I have won have been a solo break so that is my target for 2013, to win a decent level race, solo.

Who inspires you are why:

I will have to say Vanmarcke inspires me so much, he is such a classy guy, beating Boonen in Het Volk before his winning streak in 2012 and coming a close second to Cancellara in Roubaix this year, along with the fact that he’s like 25 (pretty young for a successful classics rider) shows he is a total machine.
