Rider Profile

Name: Emma Baird

Primary Club: City of Edinburgh Racing Club

Biography

I started cycling at the end of 2009 after being tested as part of the “gold4glasgow”programme. Previously I had been a 100/200m runner and played football for Hibs Girls. I found out about the cross over programme whilst studying sport studies at Stirling University. After a reoccurring shin injury cycling gave me renewed motivation and measuring the highest power output on the day – I was later told; I had the raw materials for sprint cycling. With the transfer complete I became Scottish champion in 2010 and alongside my team mate took Bronze in the team sprint at the British championships. I retained the Scottish title this year in the new Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome breaking the Scottish record. My attention lies now on qualifying for 2014 commonwealth games.
