National MTB Jersey Joy for Ffion James
Ffion James has won her first National title at the weekend in Yorkshire. Ffion James and Lee Williams were the top Welsh riders over the 2 days of racing at the National Mountain Bike Championships being held in Aske, Richmond, N.Yorkshire.
Ffion James and Lee Williams are both delighted with their results
Over the past few years Ffion James has come close on a number of occasions but finally the National title and jersey are now on the young Welsh rider's shoulders. Following in her bigger sisters footsteps, James is forging her own path away from the Velodrome and on the muddy MTB tracks around Britain. It was only a matter of time before Ffion won her first title and Welsh Cycling hopes this will be the first of many for the young rider.
Lee Williams was also in the form of his career by taking a superb bronze medal in the Senior men's event. Williams season has been gradually building and this result will certainly boost the Welshman's confidence. Williams produced a stunning performance to hold off some strong opponents for the bronze medal. The inform Kileen was always going to be a tough man to beat but it was Williams who produced the big surprise to finish ahead of a strong Paul Oldham. Williams will be looking to the 2014 Commonwealth Games and with this performance the building blocks are in place.
