The Scottish National Youth and Junior Track Championships are to be held in the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome this weekend (24-26th June.)
The event will see almost 70 riders between the ages of 11-18 take to the track to compete in a variety of sprint and endurance events.
Great Britain Junior Academy rider Lewis Stewart (Glasgow Cycle Team) will be the only rider in the Junior Men’s category able to defend his men’s sprint title.
The other title holders having moved up to the Under-23 category in the past year – leaving all other titles open for new champions.
In Junior Women, Rosa Martin, Team 22, will be back to defend her titles in pursuit, keirin and the scratch race.
However, there will be fierce competition from Jenny Holl, Team Jadan-Weldtite and Amber King, Glasgow Sprint Cycle Team, who will be riding in the Junior Women’s category this year for the first time – having secured Youth A champion titles last year.

“As the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome becomes an increasingly more popular venue to host large international track cycling events, such as the Commonwealth Games, Revolution series and the UCI Track World Cup, Scottish Cycling continues its commitment to supporting home-grown talent and improving the quality of track racing opportunities available for young people throughout Scotland.
Throughout the three competition sessions, riders will have the chance to compete for individual championship titles in a variety of competitions. With a great mix of races and a field of riders from across the country competing, I’m looking forward to some great racing.”
