It is the Scottish National 50 mile TT Championships incorporating the Granite City RT Fitnut Cup in Fordoun, Aberdeenshire this Sunday (10th July.)

It is the second time that the club will be running the Scottish National Championships and they are hoping for good weather – after a rather blustery but bright day last year.

Around 75 riders will be taking to the start line this year, including defending champions Alan Thomson from Sandy Wallace Cycles and Catriona Gunn from Team Thomsons Cycles – however both are set to face fierce competition.

BAR Champion Callum Finlayson, Moray Firth Cycling Club, is also set to take on the route – as well as Jon Entwistle who has been a notably strong TT rider this year.  However, the men’s podium is set to be an interesting one with at least five or six riders hitting times which could get them in the top three.

Amanda Tweedie, Velocity 44 Stirling, and Toni McIntosh, Ayr Roads Cycling Club, are also both looking strong for this weekend’s championship.

Riders will be started in a layby North of Fordoun on the A90 where there are opportunities for spectators to see both the start and finish – the course is flat, fast and the majority of it is dual carriageway so we expect to see some incredible times being clocked.

The event HQ is at Fordoun Hall, Station Road, Fordoun – about half a mile from the start line and the first rider sets off at 9 am.
