Scottish Cycling would like to announce that the use of disc brakes will be permitted in Time Trial competitions.

Following feedback from riders to our Road & Track Commission, the commission raised the issue with the British Cycling Technical Commission.

After careful consideration the technical commission has decided that until further notice there will be no objection to the use of disc brakes in TTs run under Scottish Cycling or British Cycling regulations.

This is covered by Technical Regulation 3.2.5, in that it does not extend to time trials. This provision extends to bicycles, tandems and tricycles in time trial competition.

Please be aware that in time trial events run under UCI regulations, for example the British National Championships, the prohibition still applies.
