The sun shone on Fenwick yesterday for the APR promoted by Walkers Cycling Club.  Due to demand for entries there were 2 races.   100 riders took on 2 laps of the challenging Clunch Road circuit.  The B race was dominated by the juniors.  Despite starting 3 minute behind the first group, they battled the strong winds to close the gap.  Kyle Johnston (East Kilbride Road Club) won the uphill sprint from Rian Hill (Spokes Racing Team) and Stuart Paterson (East Kilbride Road Club) The first female rider to cross the line was Janet Erskine (Ayr Roads Cycling Club)

After a quick break it was time for the A race.  Again the scratch group managed to chase down the 2 groups in front.  On the final climb, 3 riders managed to get clear from the main field.  Elite rider, Gary Hand (SportGrub KUOTA Cycling Team) proved too strong for his breakaway companions and won by a couple of bike-lengths from Ross Clark (Glasgow Ivy CC) and Stephen Roe (East Kilbride RC)
