Edinburgh RC hosted round two of Scottish Cycling's Women's RR Series supported by Dales Cycles on Sunday 5th June on the challenging Howgate, Gladhouse Leadburn, Waterheads circuit.
There were 28 riders (including 5 juniors) who took to the start line in glorious sunshine and despite the tough climbs the main bunch stayed together for most of the race until the final climb.
Rachel Crighton (Team 22) attacked and split the group. She was chased by Eileen Roe (Lares-Waowdeals Women Cycling Team), Shani Bloch-Davidov (Pedal Power RT), Genevieve Whitson (Isorex Cycling Team) and Anne Ewing (VW Breda).
Roe and Bloch-Davidov proved too strong for the rest and Roe sprinted to take the win. Rachel Crighton came in a few seconds later to take 3rd place. Genevieve Whitson finished in 4th giving her the overall lead in the series.
Full results shortly.
Round 3 is the Sharon Argue Memorial near Falkirk on the 14th August.
