On Sunday June 5th 2016 at 10.00am the Anderside Classic returns to the challenging roads of Lanarkshire and Ayrshire as the third round of the Scottish Cycling Alba Series.

The event will also form the first Scottish Cycling West Regional Road Race Championship, with the senior men's title up for grabs for the first rider across the line from a Scottish Cycling West club.

This year the start and finish will be in Strathaven to compliment the towns gala week, so the crowds will be out especially at the technical finish at John Hastie Park.

The race is organised by VC Astar and has been generously supported by Anderside Tools Limited and East Kilbride Group Training Association.

David Lines, Wheelbase Altura MGD, will be the one to watch, trying to hold onto his leaders jersey from the previous rounds.

85 miles and over 5000 feet of climbing will challenge the riders but the rewards are high with a 2500 pounds prize pot tempting racers from around the country.

The route is the traditional Anderside Classic course (23 sprocket recommended) with one lap of the Drumclog circuit and a Gala day sprint on re-entering Strathaven. Here a commemorative plate and prize money is up for grabs. The race then heads down towards Galston and over the formidable transmitter climb. Then on to Sorn, Muirkirk and back to Strathaven before another loop down to Darvel and up the graveyard climb before heading back to Stathaven. As always there will be a separate 3rd cat prize list.
