This Saturday sees the first ever Scottish Cycling South West Time Trial championships take place.

The championships are incorporated in the Cronberry Classic, a 17 mile time trial on quiet, rolling roads around the village of Sorn, hosted by Loudoun Road Club.

The course record is 41:13, set in 2013 by Jim Cusick.  Of the 41 riders on the start list, 20 are eligible for regional medals.

With the winner of last year’s event not riding,  2nd place rider Marc Anderson from Loudoun RC starts as favourite but will face strong opposition from his team-mates Tony Scott, Michael Robb and Michael Curran, all from Ayr Roads CC, as well as Ian Anderson and David Baird from Walkers CC.

In the women’s competition, Janet Erskine from Ayr Roads CC will be hoping to add the South West TT title to her cyclocross title that she won in December.  Her main competition comes from Catherine Logan from Fullarton Wheelers.
