It was another wet day for round 2 of the South West Winter series hosted by Stewartry Wheelers at Carlingwark Park in Castle Douglas.  63 riders did battle in the mud.

First up were the under 8s and under 10s.  Ollie Hamilton (Annan Youth CC) took his 2nd win of the series in the under 8s, with Sophie Bekier-MacIntyre (Stewartry Wheelers) winning the girls race.  In the under 10s race, Finlay Gordon (Stepping Stanes) was the first boy and Sophie McRobert.   Next up were the under 12s and under 14s.  It was another battle between Thomas Fell (Annan Youth CC) and Ben McMullan (Pro Vision Cycle Clothing).    Fell took the win with McMullan finishing 2nd and 1st under 12.   1st under 14s girl was Emily Hunter (Annan Youth CC) with her sister Sarah winning the under 12s girls category.

The final race was the under 16s and senior’s race.  Iain McMullan (Team Thomson’s Cycles) and John-Paul Baxter (Ayr Burners) proved to be too strong for the rest of the field and within a few laps had a big gap.   In the end McMullan was too strong for Baxter and pulled away to take the win.    Bradley Cowan (Stewartry Wheelers) was the top under 16 finisher.  Janet Erskine (Ayr Roads CC) was the top female finisher with 1st under 16 girl Polly Henderson (Stewartry Wheelers)

Round 3 takes place at Ae forest on 12th December.
