Scottish Cycling West is excited to launch the first Youth Cycling Council, an opportunity for young riders to come together and shape their sport.

The format will be similar to pupil councils, found in schools, and will allow the young riders the opportunity to discuss various aspects of cycling which will help to grow and develop the sport.

The council will meet four times a year, with dates fitting around the school and racing calendar. Meetings will be dynamic, involving group activities and discussion, with possible follow-up tasks, depending on suggestions raised. This is a multi-discipline group, and riders from all cycling disciplines are encouraged to attend.

This is an excellent opportunity to add sports onto your CV as you progress through school and then onto jobs and higher education.

All Youth A riders and those in their second year as a Youth B in 2016 and are invited to attend. First year juniors in 2016 are also welcome to attend as their input will be valuable.

Those riders who will be coming along are encouraged to work with the younger riders in their clubs to find out what they want from the sport, and then feedback these to the group.

The first date for the Scottish Cycling West youth council will be Thursday the 19th of November starting at 6.30pm in the Emirates Arena.

All riders in the above age range are welcome to attend, with no maximum number from each club, to allow as many riders as possible the opportunity to develop and improve their experiences of cycling.
