Saturday 12th September saw the Official Opening of Tarland Trails in Drummy Woods, Tarland.  Despite the horrendous forecast hundreds turned out to attend the Official Opening of the mountain bike facility created by Tarland Development Group.  Along with the official opening, Cyclehighlands brought their Demo Day to the opening which give locals and visitors alike the opportunity to try mountain bikes from Santa Cruz, Juliana, Orange, Rocky Mountain and Lapierre manufacturers.

The trails were completed in June 2015 and have been popular with local kids, adults and tourists ever since.  The £100,000 project was funded by many organisations including The Macrobert Trust, Legacy 2014: Active Places Fund, The Robertson Trust and many more funding bodies.

The trails were officially opened by competition winners Elise Beattie and Mhari Gallagher followed by a massed descent of the trails by the waiting crowds of keen mountain bikers.

Tarland Trails Coordinator, Chris Redmond would like to thank all those involved who made this happen and helped to develop such an asset to Tarland and the surrounding area.  Chris added, ‘It was fantastic to have so many people enjoying the trails and a great way to complete the project’.
