Women Only Coaching Workshop - Analysing performance.

Sunday 14th August

09.30 -04.30 Caledonia House Edinburgh

Article by: Chris Bryant

Analysing Performance is a coaching CPD workshop aimed at really getting to grips with whether an athlete or rider is performing techniques or skills the way we want them to. The CPD workshop builds on the knowledge gained at UKCC level 1 and 2 awards but is equally suitable for discipline specific coaches or teachers who have attended our ACAT course.

During the course there will be a mix of theory and practical with all coaches getting the opportunity to research and analyse techniques and then compare them to actual rider performances in a relaxed and supportive environment. The course will be led by Liz Pirrie, one of the coaches from the Grampian Tigers club.

This workshop is only open to female coaches who have previously attended a Scottish or British Cycling coach education award course such as the ACAT, UKCC level 1 or level 2. The course will run at Caledonia House, South Gyle, Edinburgh. Lunch will be provided. A bike and helmet will be required unless you've got a particular reason you don't want to cycle. The practical area we have to work with here is pretty flat and pretty small so a mountain bike is normally the best choice of ride.
A £10 fee is payable in order to book a place.

Financial Assistance
We're conscious Edinburgh isn't on everyone's doorstep so some coaches traveling from within Scotland will be eligible to claim back mileage in line with our volunteer rates of 30p per mile. However the first 100 miles of any return journey will not be counted (For example; a coach traveling 110miles each way will only be able to claim for 120miles @30p). There is a catch though. If you would like to benefit from this reimbursement we'd really like you to write a blog style entry about your coaching activities back at your club or something more specific so we can use it on our website and on the Filles A Velo site to help raise the profile of the good work you are doing.

If any coaches local to Edinburgh wish to attend the course and happen to have a spare room it might be nice to offer this up to any of the coaches traveling from further afield. The easiest way to do this would be by letting me know at the time of booking and I can pass the info on.

If you would like to attend or if you would like any further information please contact Chris Bryant on chris.bryant@scottishcycling.org.uk or telephone 0131 317 9704. Payment will have to be by cheque made payable to "Scottish Cycling" and we'll need that close to your time of booking.
