A new Go-Ride club is in the process of being formed in East Lothian. The East Lothian Trailblazers will be based in Haddington but will service the whole East Lothian area.

The Trailblazers were previously a Cycling Scotland club focusing on Bikeability but Elisa Smith, the club organiser, felt the children would benefit with some cycle sport training. All the kids want to be the next Chris Hoy!

Craig McCulloch, Regional Development Officer, West of Scotland said:

“Elisa Smith and Susanne Liddle got in touch with me through the Scottish Cycling Office so I went out to meet them to and discuss what Go-Ride was about, how they go about joining up and how they can get involved. Elisa and her husband are already keen cyclists while Susanne is good with numbers. As a team I have no doubt they will do an excellent job.”

I think this is a typical situation where a group as gone through Bikeability and is looking for something more. Go-ride provides an established pathway from grass roots to racing which inspires the kids to take part and progress.”

The kids are already signed up to do the Fox Lake Cyclo-cross race (part of the Scottish Cyclo-cross league) on the 11th of November. Take about proactive!

Good luck guys!
