The new Cycle Speedway season for the Edinburgh Falcons starts with the team travelling to Hull on Sunday 1st April.

For the first Northern League match it’s definitely no April Fool that the fixture compiler managed to throw together the very two teams who were involved in a British Cycling disciplinary hearing from last year after some unsavoury incidents at the Hessle track in Hull.

With last year’s incidents hopefully left behind and with a strong neutral Referee to control the match there is sure to be some intense on track action.

Hull must start as favourites around there oddly shaped home track with current British Individual Champion Andy Angell sure to be leading from the front.

For Edinburgh the top trio of Craig Newsome, Jake slight and club captain Mikey Hewitson all make the trip and will be expected to score heavily if the Falcons stand any chance of victory. Newcomer Marcin Czarkowski makes his debut for the Falcons after impressing during pre-season training.

Further support to the top three will be provided by Neil McPherson and Paul Kelly and the ever young Jonny Murphy. Several Edinburgh juniors will also be making the journey south and Team Manager Stevie Gilroy is expecting to see the experience they have gained over the last couple of years start to pay off.
