Scottish Cycling Cyclo-Cross Championships

Posted on: 6th December 2011

Article by: Events Team

Despite various scary weather forecasts predicted and some of the competitors having to leave home in the snow, Sundays Scottish Cyclocross Championships went ahead in what can only be described as a very cold and sometimes wet day with worse weather threatening all the time !!! George Buchanan and the team of Glasgow United had suffered the worst of the weather on the Saturday setting out the course – which was, as always with Auchentoshan, well received by the riders – if only there wasn’t so much mud !!!! The results are attached, congratulations to all our medal winners and thank you to them and all the competitors for entering and turning up. It always amazes me that the prospect of racing round a muddy field in any kind of weather makes bike riders smile before, during and after, at the signing on tent there was not one complaint from a rider and even those who looked freezing afterwards and couldn’t unpin their numbers still said they had a good day !!! Magic stuff !!!

Scottish Cycling would like to thank George Buchanan and the team at Glasgow United, Scottish Cyclocross Association, the Commissaire team, the ‘Chip’ results team, the Signing on team, the First Aid team and of course the marshalls who by far had the coldest job of the day !!

At Scottish Cycling we are keen to hear competitors views and would appreciate any feedback emailed to events@scottishcycling.org.uk.

Enjoy the last event of the series in Mull those who are going and remember there has been an additional event added on 29th December organised by GJS Racing Team in Falkirk – It’s not part of the series but promises to be a cracker!!
