Road Commissaire Refresher Course

Posted on: 22nd November 2011

Article by: Events Team

A number of National Escort Group (NEG) members who support Scottish and British Cycling’s major road events are currently completing their Assistant Road Commissaire training. Although at short notice, Scottish Cycling would like to invite existing Road Commissaires, who may wish to brush up on their knowledge and skills, to the remaining class based sessions. These will be delivered in Glasgow on the afternoon of Saturday 3rd December by British Cycling Commissaire tutor and National Commissaire Tom Forbes and include modules on the administration, technical and competition aspects of road events. In addition, the Commissairing of time trials, team time trials and criterium racing will also be discussed. There is no charge for the course and spaces are limited. Interested Road Commissaires should contact Janette Hazlett, National Events Officer (janette.hazlett@scottishcycling.co.uk) – mobile number 07951 051 891 on or before Friday 2nd December 2011 to register for the course. Joining instructions will then be e-mailed to participants. If there is sufficient demand additional refresher courses for Commissaires will be considered by the Scottish Cycling Commisaires Commission.

A full range of Commissaire training courses across the cycling disciplines will be available in the new year and dates/venues will be released in the next few weeks. Commissaires should also note the date and venue for the 2012 Scottish Commissaires Conference, Saturday February 25th in Perth where Scottish Cycling hopes to build on the success of the 2010 conference. Likewise, further details will be announced shortly.
