The Club Development Coordinators have released our latest monthly update for clubs across the country, in order to keep you in the loop with relevant opportunities and developments coming your way.

This month the things we'd like to highlight are:

Affiliation 2022

Club affiliation for 2022 has now opened. Clubs can affiliate using our dedicated Club Management system, ClubServe. More information can be found here

Minimum Operating Standards – Clarification

Clubs have been contacted by their region's CDC regarding the Minimum Operating Standards that have been introduced this year, and that clubs must meet in order to affilate to Scottish Cycling in 2022. Whilst relevant policies and codes of conduct must be adopted by clubs, club members do not need to sign each individual policy in order for the policies to be considered adopted. Rather, it is sufficient to inform members of the adoption of these policies, and for their continued membership to be considered as adherence to and acceptance of the policies. Furthermore, clubs do not need to draw up new policies from scratch should they not wish to do so. Scottish Cycling have provided template resources for each required policy, that clubs can easily adapt to suit their requirements. These resources can be found here

Coaching Course Bursaries

Remember there are a range of subsidies and bursaries available to help with the cost of coaching course. The Flying Start bursary is specifically for young people (14-21), offering discounts of up to 70% off coaching and the Ignite bursary is specifically for women and girls, offering discounts of up to 55% off coaching, ride leadership and MTB Leadership courses. More details of these and how to apply can be found here. You can also get up to 60% off your course through sportscotland subsidies, which can be applied for here

Women and Girls in Sport Week 2021

Women and Girls in Sport Week 2021 took place the week of the 25th October. Our CDC for the North region, Neil Wilson, caught up with Lorna Breetzke of Elgin CC to find out all about the amazing work happening in Elgin to grow female participation in cycling. Read more about that here, and check out our social channels for lots more content around Women and Girls in Sport Week!

Club Insurance

We have had a few queries come through lately about the steps that clubs need to take in order to be covered by liability insurance. For full details, check out the FAQ's page here
