Katie Archibald enjoyed a stunning week at the Track European Championships in Switzerland, securing a hat-trick of titles, the final of which came in the Madison alongside compatriot Neah Evans.

Fresh from Olympic success in Tokyo, with the Scottish pair contributing to the silver medal winning Team GB Team Pursuit quartet, Archibald and Evans would team up in the madison this time around, with Katie having taken Olympic gold in the event alongside Laura Kenny in Japan.

Despite Evans unfortunately hitting the deck about 20 laps in, the duo stayed focused on the task at hand, as they gained a lap, alongside three other nations, winning enough sprints to run out winners on 63 points, 13 points clear of their nearest rivals.

Kick-starting Katie’s medal rush was the Scratch race, her first track race since winning Olympic gold, however it was in the Omnium where Archibald really showed her class, winning the scratch race, tempo race, elimination race and points race, leaving her opposition absolutely helpless as she swept them all to one side to take gold in majestic fashion.

Evans had also enjoyed success on her own earlier in the week, a valiant ride saw her take bronze in the Elimination race.

Also in action for Great Britain inside the Tissot Velodrome in Grenchen was Ali Fielding, who formed part of the Team Sprint trio. A fantastic development opportunity, Fielding showed he was more than up to competing at this level, as the squad just missed out on a medal to Poland in the bronze medal ride.
