Scottish Cycling is embarking upon the recruitment process for its second Young People’s Panel

The Scottish Cycling Young People’s Panel is a national group selected to represent the voice of young people, led by Scottish Cycling.
This exciting and unique opportunity encourages young people to have their voices heard and shape the future of the sport in Scotland.
Being part of the panel will provide young people with opportunities to grow their skillset, get to meet new people and contribute towards the strategic objectives of Scottish Cycling.
We believe in the power of young people as future leaders in our sport – and can’t wait to hear about the impact that you want to make.
Term of the Panel
September 2021 – September 2023
Vision of the Young People’s Panel

To provide a platform for young people to share their views and influence the future development of the sport within Scotland
-
To support young people to develop new life skills whilst providing them with experiences that will increase their confidence
-
To support young people to become leaders, and to motivate and inspire others to get involved in the sport of cycling.
What will the panel do?
Panel members will have the opportunity to work closely with Scottish Cycling to influence the future of the sport. Members will meet other like-minded young people from around the country, engage with clubs across Scotland, and attend a range of events to see the sport in action.
The panel will meet every 6 weeks either virtually or in person. There will be a combination of full-day development sessions and weekday evening project-focused calls. The panel will offer a range of personal development opportunities to each young person to support their future aspirations.
The panel will work with teams across Scottish Cycling to develop and enhance new and existing projects and programmes, such as:

How to encourage people to participate in cycling in Scotland

Integration of young people into leadership roles

Coaching and volunteering pathways
-
Social media and communication
-
Case studying and profiling innovative work
-
Facilitate consultations and contribute to national discussions

Projects in the run up to the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships
Why become a member of the young people’s panel?
Being part of the panel is a great way for a young person to grow their understanding and insight into the work of Scottish Cycling.
