The Next Generation Track Cycling
Apeldoorn | 17th - 19th January
The objective behind sending a team of riders to the track meet in the Netherlands was to focus on developing them in bunch racing and team pursuit. The riders all performed well, qualifying fifth in team pursuit. After a feedback session between the riders and Scottish Cycling Endurance Coach PJ, chatting through the ride and video analysis, the team went on to ride 1.7s quicker in the ride off to almost catch Belgium and take fifth place. Throughout the weekend the riders developed in terms of bunch awareness, positioning and race craft. This was evident in the tempo races where riders rode well to pick up points or be in the group taking the laps. Highlights for the weekend include the team pursuit ride, scratch race with Ross Birrell and Adam Mitchell on the podium, Kieran Riley picking up a lap and points for 7th in a tough heat in the tempo and Aaron King’s Team pursuit ride.
